Troy American 15, Greenville 5: KaNeil Lewis went 3-for-3, including a lead-off homer in the bottom of the first inning to lead the Troy Americans to the win Monday night.

After giving up three runs in the top of the first, Troy responded with seven, the maximum a team is allowed to score in an inning, in the bottom half.

Lewis’ homer got the job started.

“You want you leadoff batter to set the pace for the inning,” Troy coach Chris Campbell said. “You want him to get on base, and have a chance to score. KaNiel went above that in the first inning, and got us all going. That was big for us.”

Troy scored seven runs in the second inning as well, before ending the game on a single by Lewis in the fourth.

Enterprise National 12, Troy National 6: Enterprise scored a pair of runs in every inning Tuesday to down Troy in the District Tournament.

Troy countered Enterprise’s hot start by plating a four runs in the bottom half of the first. However, Troy would find runs and hits hard to come by down the stretch.

“For some reason, our bats just went quiet later in the game,” said Troy head coach David Bradford. “We came out swinging the bat really well, and then all of a sudden it was gone. But that is the way baseball is sometimes.”

Kade Brookins and Connor Sikes led Troy at the plate with two hits each.

Bradford said his team is going in to the elimination game with the same attitude it takes to the field on defense.

“We have to just flush it and keep going,” Bradford said. “When we make a mistake on defense, we flush it and move on. That is what we have to do with this game. We don’t want this game to beat us twice, and I don’t think it will.”
