Frances Cox Jones

Frances Cox Jones, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 19, 2014, at the age of 91.  A native of Carrollton, Alabama, she is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Jasper Allen Jones; her loving daughter and son, Marian Frances Renfroe (Jimmy) and Allen Cox Jones (Vicki); five grandchildren, Al Renfroe (Laura), Fran Spann (Zach), Will Jones, Ben Jones, and Sam Jones; and five great-grandchildren, Scott Taylor Renfroe, Cade Renfroe, Addie Renfroe, Caroline Renfroe, and Jones Spann; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Cox, and many special nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Jones is also survived by a dear friend, Lois Bean.

Her family would like to give special thanks to caregivers: Alegra Bean, Annie Ruth Tyson, and Annette McClain; Troy Regional Medical Center, Hospice Advantage, and Dr. Rick Gill.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her father, Clayton C. Cox, Sr. and her mother, Evelyn Upchurch Cox; her sister, Mary Cox Sims (Joe); and her brothers, Clayton C. Cox, Jr. (Marie), John B. Cox (Jeanine), and Pat Cox.

Mrs. Jones loved the Lord and was a faithful prayer warrior for countless people around the world, and especially her forever grateful family and friends.  As a result of her strong belief in the power of prayer, she was a founder of the First Baptist Troy, Prayer Room Ministry.  She also served on the Board of Trustees of the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home for several terms; and was an active member of the Troy Charity League, and the Forty-Niners’ Study Club for many years, as well as numerous other civic organizations. Also, Mrs. Jones was a founder of the Kappa Gamma Chapter of Phi Mu Sorority at Troy University.

Pallbearers will be Al Renfroe, Will Jones, Ben Jones, Sam Jones, Zach Spann, and David Conrad, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Builders’ Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory, to First Baptist Church, 200 W. College Street, Troy, Alabama 36081, or to Hospice Advantage of Troy, Alabama.

The service for Mrs. Jones with Dr. Luke Lane officiating will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Troy. Immediately prior to the service, the family will receive friends in the First Baptist Church Parlor from 2:00-4:00 p.m..  Burial will follow in the Green Hills Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home directing.
