Support the ‘jail for bail’ event downtown todayPublished 7:06pm Thursday, May 29, 2014
Take out your wallets because it’s time to help bail out some high-profile folks today.
A dozen community leaders from all walks of life – from the mayor to the director of CGI – are going to jail to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Pike County.
Separate charges of unbridled kindnesses and community service will be brought before Brooke Watkins, CGI business analyst; Dejerilyn Henderson, Troy City Council member; Dr. Boyd English, CHHS principal; Dr. James Kimbrough, retired Troy University professor; Jeff Kervin, Troy Bank & Trust president and CEO; Dr. Lakerri Mack, president board of directors Boys and Girls Club of Pike County; Marcus Paramore, Troy City Council member; Jason Reeves, Troy mayor; Shelia Jackson, Troy Tourism director; Sarah Cantey, WAKA-Troy news anchor; George Tarbox, CGI-Troy director; and Tony Teem, CGI consultant.
When apprehended, the suspects will serve four hours behind bars and bail will be set at $300 each. The money raised will directly benefit the Boys and Girls Club, an organization that seeks to provide safe outlets and mentoring opportunities for children in our community.
The Boys and Girls Club provides its programs and services thanks to the donations from the community. It provides after-school tutoring and activities, summer educational programs, mentoring and outreach to hundreds of youngsters each year.
It’s a valuable program that deserves our community’s support.
We hope you’ll take time today to stop by the Jail for Bail event on the Square from 2 to 6 p.m. or call 334-770-2582 to make a donation prior to the event.
