Charles Henderson clinches region title with rout of Ashford

Charles Henderson wide receiver John Johnson scored one touchdown. Then he scored another and another. By the time the night was over, Johnson accounted for five touchdowns in a 50-0 Trojan rout over the visiting Ashford Yellow Jackets.

Johnson scored the first four touchdowns of the game on a 12-yard run, a 16-yard run, a 60-yard reception and a seven-yard run.

To make the feat even more impressive, Johnson scored the first three touchdowns during a five minute stretch that saw the Trojans roll out to a 22-0 lead.

By the time Johnson was done running over the Yellow Jackets, the Trojans had a comfortable 29-0 lead.

Josh Noel also got in on the scoring action for the Trojans when he scored from 12 yards out to give CHHS a 35-0 lead.

Johnson added his final touchdown of the night on a 25-yard touchdown scamper at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Kendale Passmore closed out the scoring on the night with a 26-yard run for a final of 50-0.

With the win, Charles Henderson clinched its first region championship since 2007. CHHS will host either Dora or Jemison in the first round of the playoffs.

Charles Henderson will try for a perfect region record next week against Bullock County at Verterans Memorial Stadium.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
