A Troy man was arrested for stealing cleaning and personal hygiene products from a local store on Sunday.

Tristen Anterrio King, 30, was arrested for third-degree theft after allegedly stealing laundry detergent, Clearasil, hair cream, hand sanitizer, soap, body wash, moisturizing cream and other products from the Dollar General store on Three Notch Street in Troy at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

“He stole all kinds of cleaning and hygiene products,” said Troy Police Lt. Bryan Weed. “Thirty-one items total.”

A store employee was able to give a description of King and the vehicle he left the store in and a patrol officer spotted the car.

“The suspect matched the description and the officer saw items in plain view,” Weed said.

The total amount of products taken was valued at less than $500, according to police.

Weed said all items were recovered and returned to Dollar General and that King’s arrest was in great part due to the patrol officer who spotted the suspect vehicle.

“We just want to thank our patrol officers for having their eyes open and being alert and aware when they are responding to calls,” Weed said. “Being alert is key. We got the property back and put the criminal in jail, and that’s what the citizens of Troy expect.”
