Troy police have arrested 71-year old Billy Gene Cowart for attempted murder in conjunction with a stabbing incident that occurred on the 100-block of Trojan Way at approximately 3:25 p.m.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at the 100-block of Trojan Way. Officers arrived on the scene and secured the area for an EMS response. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries but was transferred to Troy Regional Medical Center for monitoring.
Witnesses at the scene provided officers with a description of Cowart’s vehicle. Officers pursued Cowart south on Highway 29 before conducting a felony traffic stop in the vicinity of County Road 1165. Officers arrested Cowart and transported him to the Troy Police Department. Following an investigation, Cowart was charged with attempted murder.
Cowart is being held at Pike County Jail on a bond of $50,000.
