For fathers and their daughters around the county, Saturday, Aug. 31 will be “A Mid-Summer Knight’s Dream.”

The Concerned Christians of Brundidge (C.C.O.B.) will host a Father/Daughter Banquet at Brundidge Station giving young girls the opportunity to have their first date with their fathers, said Sheron Mitchell, C.C.O.B. secretary.

“There’s no age limit for the girls who attend with their fathers but the idea and thought behind ‘A Mid-Summer Knight’s Dream’ is for young girls, who have not started dating yet, to have that first date with their father so they will see how they should be treated on a date and what to expect from a young man they are dating.”

Mitchell said the banquet will be a seated dinner and the daughters will have the experience of dining in a more formal setting so they will be more comfortable in that situation when on a date.

“The father/daughter banquet is a special occasion so the proper attire should be what you would wear to church on Sunday,” Mitchell said.

A disc jockey will provide music for the evening as background music and for dancing.

“Those who want to dance will have that opportunity,” Mitchell said. “We want this to be a night to remember and dancing will be a part of the activities.’

Tickets for the Father/Daughter Banquet are $20 with a $5 charge for an additional guest.

“The ticket price will include a photograph of the father and daughter,” Mitchell said. “Additional photographs may be purchased.”

All proceeds from the “A Mid-Summer Knight’s Dream” Father/Daughter Banquet will support the C.C.O.B.’s annual “Walk for Jesus” on Oct. 12. The “Walk for Jesus” begins on Galloway Road and follows a downtown route through Brundidge to Pike County High School.

“After the ‘Walk for Jesus,’ everyone is invited to Galloway Park where we have lunch, games, activities and entertainment,” Mitchell said. “Funds raised through the Father/Daughter Banquet will be used to purchase items for the lunch which is served free to all who come.”

“A Mid-Summer Knight’s Dream” Father/Daughter Banquet will be from 6 until 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 at Brundidge Station in downtown Brundidge.
