Troy man arrested for manslaughterPublished 11:00pm Monday, July 29, 2013
A Troy man has been arrested for manslaughter for his part in a fatal wreck that happened last August.
Anthony Finney, 21, was arrested Thursday night and taken to the Pike County Jail.
According to a traffic crash report, on Aug. 14, 2012, Finney lost control of his 1996 Nissan Maxima about two miles east of Goshen about 6:10 p.m. Finney ran off the roadway, overturned and struck two unoccupied vehicles.
The crash killed Willie Early Taylor, 54. Finney and two other passengers were taken to Troy Regional Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to Alabama State Troopers.
The report noted that evidence at the scene showed Finney was “well in excess of the posted speed limit. Also, there was a strong odor of alcohol omitting from the driver.”
The report also stated the crash happened in a school zone while parents and students were close to the crash.
