Wilda Faye Andress, age 70, of Banks, AL., went home to be with her Lord Monday, July 15, 2013. A funeral service will take place Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 10 a.m., at Green Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Ward officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 at the funeral home. Mrs. Andress will be laid to rest in Banks City Cemetery in Banks, AL.

Mrs. Andress was the daughter of the late Florence Morgan Andress and J. Will Andress and was the youngest of 11 children. She attended Banks High School and Pike County High School, where she was the class valedictorian, homecoming queen and served as Miss Brundidge as well as Miss Pike County High.

She received her Registered Nursing degree from St. Margarets School of Nursing. Mrs. Andress served her country for six years, doing one tour of duty in Vietnam as a Captain in the Army Nurse Corp. She continued her career in the medical field with Haynes Survey Team for the U.S. Government, where she traveled the country and many foreign countries as well. Mrs. Andress then worked at the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, GA., and retired after 32 years of service to the country.

While living in Atlanta, she married Wayne Williams and moved back to Banks where she first began her life’s journey.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Williams, one brother, Ben Andress (Betty), one sister, Helen Livingston and one sister-in-law Ruby Andress. She also leaves behind three neices, one nephew and several great nieces and one great nephew.

Mrs. Andress will receive full military honors at her graveside given by Charlie’s Angels, who will also serve as her pall bearers.
