The Troy Dixie Minor Rookies avenged a loss earlier in the day to advance to the state title series with a 4-1 win over Enterprise Monday evening in Muscle Shoals.

Troy and Enterprise traded blows all season long, with each team picking up wins along the way, but Troy picked up the biggest win of the season on Monday.

Head coach Chris Huner said that the team was carried by a masterful pitching performance from Rodarius Christian. Christian pitched five innings , allowing no hits and no runs.

“He did a great job on the mound for us,” said Huner. “He got a little tired late, so we brought in another, but he kept us in it. It was a pitching duel.”

Huner said that he and his staff challenged the players to “win each at bat” in the second game, and the results would change.

“We had a long talk before the game and told the kids to remember the small things, and how they can change the outcome of the game,” Huner said. “They did just that.”

Before getting to the Monday match up with their rival, Troy picked up three wins over the weekend.

Troy knocked off Fairhope National 17-11, Enterpise 6-3 and Millbrook 12-2. In the three games, Troy outscored their opponents 35-16 and out hit teams 31-11.

Troy advances to the title series on Wednesday against the host team, Muscle Shoals.

First pitch is set for 10 a.m.
