Police arrested a Troy woman Saturday night for first-degree assault after she allegedly shot another woman.
Troy Police responded to the 100 block of Aster Avenue after reports of a shooting. Officers found a victim with what appeared to be a non-life threatening wound to the thigh.
After interviewing the victim and a witness, officers took Jeaniene Catrina Cherry, 34, into custody and subsequently arrested her for first-degree assault, according to police.
A handgun was found and taken into evidence by officers.
Cherry was transferred from the city jail to the Pike County Jail on a $20,000 bond. Police said the two women were not related.
Police reported the victim in this case was taken to the Troy Regional Medical Center and later to Montgomery for treatment.
In a second case, police arrested a Troy man Sunday for second-degree domestic violence.
Frankie Devon Passmore, 38, was taken into custody after officers responded to the 100 block of Fox Street about 5:20 a.m. after a call about a domestic disturbance, according to Troy police.
Police reported officers found a female victim at the home with severe lacerations and injuries believed to have been caused by a blunt object.
Passmore was processed and transported to the Pike County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
Both cases are still under investigation by the Troy police department.
