The Brown Bag on the Square Concert Series continues Thursday in downtown Troy and will feature the music of K&W Acoustics, Johnny Barron and DJHendock.

The community wide event will be held during the lunch hour from noon until 1 p.m. and Shelia Jackson, Troy director of public relations and tourism, said she’s preparing for a big turnout.

“We had a very large crowd at the Brown Bag on June 6 and everyone had a great time,” Jackson said. “The purpose of the Brown Bag on the Square Concert Series is to bring the community together in our wonderful downtown area for a time of fellowship and music. Lunch is a convenient time because most of us take a lunch break, so why not take it together?”

Jackson said that lunch this week will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis by Momma Goldberg’s Deli, Greenhills Funeral Home, Mayor Jason Reeves, State Rep. Alan Boothe and Steve Flowers.

“Of course, those who would like to pack a picnic or pickup a carry-out meal from their favorite restaurant are welcome to do that,” Jackson said. “We’ll have tables and chairs available for everyone.”

Troy Regional Medical Center will offer free blood pressure checks during the lunch hour as a service to the community.

“We really appreciate the support of our sponsors and the musicians who share their talents with us at our Brown Bag concerts,” Jackson said. “We encourage everyone to join us Thursday for another fun lunch on the square.”

The Brown Bag series is presented by the City of Troy Public Relations and Tourism Department.
