Southside Baptist Church finished its ‘colossal’ week of Vacation Bible School on Friday.

The program’s theme was “Colossal Coaster World,” and its main focus was facing fears, according to Sue Bhatti, who was standing in for the program director on Thursday.

“We’ve had a total enrollment of about 150 kids and workers this week,” Bhatti shared. “We had kids ages four through fifth grade, as well as lots of workers to help.”

Some of the activities the children participated in this week were crafts, music, and recreation. They also had a Bible study for each age group, story time, and snacks and meals were provided for the children.

“I love being a part of Vacation Bible School,” said Bhatti. “It’s great for beginning and building relationships, and it helps bring together the kids, youth members, and adults of the church.”

She also said reaching out to the community is a great aspect of VBS. Bhatti said the church wants to teach children how to face their fears with God on their side.

“We want to teach them that they should put their trust in God and to learn how to face their fears,” she said.
