Mr. Benny M. Green of the Linwood Community passed away at his residence Friday, May 31, 2013. He was 76. Funeral services for Benny M. Green were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2013 at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. David C. Stewart, Sr. officiating. Burial followed at Carr’s Chapel Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation was from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy. The family also received friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel one hour prior to the service. He was born June 2, 1936 in Pike County, AL to the late Roy Green and Mary Grace Jones Green. He was owner and operator of Green Trucking Company for many years. Mr. Green was known for his hard work, his dedication to his family and he worked many long hours to provide for them. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Quitman and Pearl Dease, 3 brothers, Howard, Roy, and Emmett Green, sister, Leila Golden and a grandson, Canaan Green. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years: Carolyn J. Green, Linwood Community; sons and daughters-in-law: Randy (Sharon) Green, Dothan, AL; Chris (Buffy) Green, Alexander City, AL; and Monty (Charlene) Green, Troy, AL; daughter: Angela Edwards and Charlie Tillery, Troy, AL; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters: Jeanette Johnson, Troy, AL; and Sandra Griffin, Enterprise, AL; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends. Serving as pallbearers were Lavon Singleton, Daryl Calhoun, Sherrill Calhoun, Shane Calhoun, Donnie Green, Douglas Golden and Thomas Wright.
