Troy Health and Rehabilitation Center has planned a busy spring schedule of activities for its residents and their families.

Jeanette Dawkins, TH&R activities director, said the activities will get underway with a St. Patrick’s Day’s celebration on March 15.

“We’ll have cookies and punch for our residents and good ol’ Irish music that they really seem to enjoy,” Dawkins said. “Then, on March 22, we’ll have our Easter social and, although our residents might be a little older, they remember how Easter was when they were children and they enjoy reliving those days when the Easter Bunny came. So, we don’t disappoint them. The Easter Bunny comes and that’s exciting for our residents.”

In the past, TH&R has hosted an Easter egg hunt for the children of the Pike County community. However, Dawkins said that, this year, the Easter egg hunts will be held on site at a couple of the day care centers in Troy.

“We wanted to try something different this year and see how it works,” Dawkins said. “The Easter Bunny will visit the day care centers during the egg hunts and that will be a lot of fun for the children.”

On April 9, Ms. Troy Health & Rehab Bertha McLendon will hand her crown over to the new queen.

“Mrs. McLendon has been a wonderful representative of TH&R,” Dawkins said. “She has worn three crowns at TH&R. She was Ms. Congeniality in 2010, our Valentine Queen in 2011 and Ms. Troy Health and Rehab in 2012. She will always be a queen to us.”

The annual Ms. TH&R pageant will be held at 6:30 p.m. on April 9. Dawkins said the contestants look forward to getting dressed up and participating in the annual pageant.

“They all look forward to the pageant whether they are contestants or in the audience,” Hawkins said. “We encourage families and friends to make their plans to join us for this special event.”
