Mr. Dwan McDurmont of Troy passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at his residence. He was
66. Funeral services for Dwan McDurmont will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at
Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. Ray Stinson and Rev. Shirlie Ellis officiating.
Burial will follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery with military honors conducted by Charlie’s
Angels, Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation for Mr. McDurmont will be held from
6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Skeen Funeral Home. The family will also
receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday at Skeen Funeral Home prior to the
service. Dwan McDurmont was born September 9, 1946 in Zion Chapel, Al. to the late Roy
McDurmont and Edna Lois Macon McDurmont. Mr. McDurmont proudly served our country in
the U.S. Army. He was employed as an aircraft mechanic with Pike Aviation for several years
and was still employed as a consultant at the time of his death. He was recognized by the Dallas
Cowboy Football Association on January 14, 2001 for saving two pilots lives, Eddy Collins and
Max McVicker. Mr. McDurmont was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters,
Linda Nell McDurmont, Debra Jean McDurmont, James Wiley McDurmont, Edna Willene Love
and Jo Ann Boutwell; and a very special friend, Gloria Tillery. He is survived by his children
and spouses: Jeff (Anna) McDurmont, a special son, Bobby (Melanie) Tillery, all of Troy;
brothers and sisters: Donald Delano McDurmont, Dothan, AL; William McDurmont, Phenix
City; Wayne McDurmont, Smiths Station; Brenda Sawyer, Troy; Bobby McDurmont,
Brundidge; Gail Kinsey, Dothan; and David McDurmont, Jack; grandchildren: Jeffery R.
McDurmont, Troy; Jacob Craig, Ozark; Bridget Bottoms, Geneva; Monica Thompson, Dothan;
Leanne Tillery and Shyanne Tillery, both of Troy. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Sanders,
Bobby Tillery, Michael Childs, Kenny Jackson, Rob Schaffer and Bobby Joe Edwards. The
