Read Across America with Dr. Seuss

Pike County celebrated Read Across America this week, culminating in a day filled with children dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters. The Cat and the Hat was by far the favorite, along with the Grinch, Thing One and Thing Two, Red Fish Blue Fish, and even a few Lorax’s. The full story will be published at 11:00 p.m. tonight, as well as in the Weekend edition of The Messenger.

Charles Henderson Middle School

Students at CHMS were visited from several athletes from Troy University, including members of the football team, and the women’s basketball and cheerleading teams.

Troy Elementary School

Students at TES got into the spirit of Dr. Seuss by dressing in “crazy socks”, red and white striped hats, Cat and The Hat costumes, and even a Grinch costume. All of the classes got together for a parade that looped around the school campus. A Troy firetruck also made an appearance.

Covenant Christian School

The classes at Covenant Christian celebrated Dr. Seuss by decorating their classrooms with streamers, dressing up as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters, and eating “green eggs and ham”, “red fish and blue fish treats” and “hats” from Cat and The Hat.
