Not everybody can go to the Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans or Mobile, so the Troy Nutrition Center brings the Fat Tuesday frolic to Troy. Tuesday morning, the participants at the Center participated in a Mardi Gras celebration complete with costumes, a parade, Dixieland music and, of course Moon Pies and RC Colas. The celebration included a costume contest and winners Glennie Harris, who had the moves and the Mardi Gras gala attire, first place; Jessie Dix, who had to moves, second place; and Rosa Lee Boswell, who “got it going.” The Mardi Gras celebration is an annual event at the Troy Nutrition Center. Hassie Green, Center director, said laughs were the order of the day and everyone had a good time celebrating Mardi Gras.
