Man wanted for sex abuse, possible homicide could be in Troy

A man police consider to be armed and dangerous could be hiding out in the Troy area, according to authorities in Lake Wales, Fla.

Larry Joe Futrill, 67, of Lake Wales, has an active arrest warrant for three counts of sexual battery on a juvenile victim. He is also a person of interest and wanted for questioning in the Dec. 19 homicide of William McCauley.

The Ledger in Lakeland, Fla. reported that McCauley was killed by a shotgun blast through a window of his mother’s mobile home, where he was visiting.

Police describe Futrill as a white male, 5-feet, 10-inches tall with a thin build, light complexion and white hair. Police report Futrill recently cut his hair, so his appearance may be different than that in photos released by authorities. It is not known what mode of transportation Futrill is using.

An arrest warrant for the three counts of sexual battery was obtained from the Florida State Attorney’s Office on Thursday after detectives presented evidence and testimony regarding their investigation.

Police believe Futrill could be in Troy or Elba and area anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts to call police, immediately.
