Nelson Cartee, Carol S. of Montgomery Alabama died at home, surrounded by loved ones on Dec 2nd 2012. She was born in Opelika on February 6th 1945 to Elton and Martha Sewell, and was the oldest of 4 children. Carol loved dancing and sunsets at Lake Martin. Her life was dedicated to caring for others. She earned a BA from Auburn in 1966, and an MS in Psychology from AUM in 1991. A Licensed Professional Counselor, she was the Counselor Coordinator of Clinical Services at the Family Sunshine Center and later Director of Children’s Services for Montgomery Area Mental Health Authority. She served on the board of Frazer UMC and was instrumental in implementing support groups and counseling services at Frazer. She was married Joseph Dyke Nelson from 1966 until his death in 1983. She married Ron Cartee in 1999. She is survived by her husband Ron, two children J. Dyke Nelson and Elizabeth Nelson Dawson, father Elton Sewell, sister Rebecca Olson, brother John Sewell, and grandchildren Jake, Ellie, and Virginia Nelson and Josephine and David Dawson. The funeral service will be held at Frazer Memorial UMC Chapel at 11 am Saturday Dec 8th with visitation starting at 9:30 am. The Reverend John Schmidt will officiate. Graveside service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to The Family Sunshine Center in Montgomery or The Child and Adolescent Center at Montgomery Area Mental Health Authority.
