Pike County will kick off the holiday season with a trio of parades beginning next Monday.

First up is the City of Troy’s Annual Christmas Parade, “Lights and Sounds of Christmas” on Dec. 3. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. in downtown Troy.

The route will start on Elm Street and run to the square. The parade will turn in front of Oliver’s and enter the square backwards. When the parade reaches SheBANG!, the route will continue left and end at the Pike County Courthouse parking lot.

Children should be on their best behavior and prepared for a Santa sighting. He’s scheduled to make an appearance at the end of the parade.

According to a schedule provided by the City of Troy, there will also be a tree lighting ceremony on the square immediately following the parade.

The next day, Brundidge will welcome Christmas to the city at 6 p.m. Activities will include a Christmas parade with another appearance from everyone’s favorite jolly elf – Santa Claus.

“We talked to him last Tuesday night and he’s got us on the list,” said parade Chairman Lamar Steed. “He’ll definitely be there.”

Young children who would like to participate in the parade are asked to meet at the bank where they will be given jingle bells before being escorted into the parade.

Following the parade will be the lighting of the city’s official Christmas tree, along with a sing-a-long of classic Christmas songs featuring any children in Kindergarten through third-grade who would like to join in. Santa will be present at the pavilion to hear wish lists from children after the tree lighting.

Wrapping up the parade festivities is Goshen. The town’s Christmas parade begins at 6 p.m., with activities to follow.
