Eagles flying north for showdown with Oakman

Goshen will make the near 200 mile trek up I-65 to Oakman in the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Assiociation playoffs on Friday night.

Oakman comes in to the game on a nine-game win streak and ranked eighth in the Alabama Sports Writers Association poll.

The Wildcats come in to the contest fresh off winning the region title, their seventh in school history. All of their region titles have come since 1985.

The Wildcats employ a balanced offense that will see the team put the ball in the air and try to grind out yards on the ground as well.

On the season, Oakman quarterback Jase Trotter has completed 93 of 173 passes for 1,623 yards and 21 touchdowns against just six interceptions. Trotter has also picked up 562 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

Harris has been his main receiving threat, hauling in 30 passes for 670 yards and nine scores. Elijah Farley has 28 catches for 465 yards and seven scores.

On the ground, Austin topped the century mark last week and now has 1,030 yards and 10 touchdowns on 159 carries.

The match up will be the first ever for the Eagles and Wildcats,

In the first round of the 2011 Goshen knocked off G.W. Long in a rematch from week one.

Kickoff is set for 7 P.m. at Hosea Collins Field in Oakman.
