The Troy City Schools will celebrate Red Ribbon Week Oct. 22-26, thanks to vote by the school board on Monday.

Board members voted Monday to join in the annual celebration to help education students to live drug-free and healthy lifestyles. “I wish we could do it all year,” joked board member Eva Green.

The board also voted to participate in American Education Week activities Nov. 11-17. This national celebration recognizes the importance of education in the community.

In other business on Monday, board members appointed Eva Green as the voting delegate to the 2012. Delegate Assembly and Jason Thomas as the alternate.

The board meets next at 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 19.
