Gertrude Grace “Mama Gert” Anderson, age 82 of Troy, died Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Dwayne Norman officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Mrs. Anderson worked as a Supervisor for Alatex for more than forty years, worked in child care for nearly 10 years in Troy and was a member of Bush Memorial Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by Max D. Anderson; son, William Neal Anderson; parents, William Alton and Bertha E. Grace; sister, Mabel Rushing. She is survived by her son, Ren Anderson (Stacey); daughters, Mary Grace Shirley (Jerry), Diane Jordan (Jack), sister, Nell Chapman; grandchildren, Jay Shirley, Andy Shirley, Adam Shirley (Julie), Trey Baggett, Magan McTear (Paul), Julie Newberry (Jason), Jesse Jordan (Anna), Kori Brady, sixteen great grandchildren and her special beloved cat, Callie.

Pallbearers will be Jay Shirley, Andy Shirley, Adam Shirley, Trey Baggett, Daniel Shirley and Paul McTear, III.
