Parents with children enrolled in Pike County Schools will have an opportunity to entertain their kids, pick up free school supplies, eat dinner and find out more about their children’s schools at the Fifth Annual Parent Expo held by the school district.

“It’s a redesigned format and we are scheduled to have about 30 community vendors, as well,” said Dr. Donnella Carter, administrative assistant for Pike County Schools. “We want to keep it new and interesting and exciting for parents.”

The expo will be held at the Pike County Cattleman’s Complex tonight between 5:30 and 7:30.

Each school will host a showcase and present three different topics to parents. And parents can interact with educators and administrators from all schools, not just the ones their children attend.

In addition to school interaction, community vendors such as Troy University, Army Aviation Federal Credit Union, the Pike Area Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise State Community College will be on hand to speak to parents about programs and services they offer.

Parents are encouraged to drop their children off at a Fun Zone, an area that will be supervised by teachers and administrators of the school system. Kids will have access to face painting, make-and-take crafts, music, inflatables, and an equestrian show put on by the Goshen High School Equestrian Team.

Hotdogs will be provided to everyone and parents will be given a bag for each of their children that’s loaded with school supplies, Carter said.

“We know that parents are interested in learning more about our schools and this is the perfect opportunity to do that,” Carter said. “It promises to be a fun event.”
