Leonard Charles “Larry” Helton of Goshen, AL. passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. He was 59. Funeral services for Larry Helton will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. Curtis Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow in Belser Cemetery in the Briar Hill Community with Military Honors by Charlie’s Angels, Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation for Larry Helton will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy. The family will also receive friends from 10 until 11:00 a.m. at the chapel one hour prior to the service. Mr. Helton was born February 23, 1953 in Illinois son of the late Cecil Lee Helton and Dorothy Downey Helton. He is survived by his wife: Linda Dianne Roper Helton, Goshen, AL; sons: John Helton and James L. Helton both of Elba, AL; Steven Gilbert, Troy, AL; and Eric Roper, Goshen, AL; daughters: Angela Helton and Donna Lee both of Goshen, AL; and Brandy Liles, Daleville, AL; 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 3 brothers, 1 sister, a host of very close friends and family. Serving as pallbearers will be Clint Helms, Mike Crowe, Zack Henley, Jimmy Helms, Eric Roper, Quaid Roper and Eddie Cox. Memorials may be made to the Helton Fund c/o Skeen Funeral Home, Troy.
