Waffle House fight in Troy caught on camera
Published 11:00pm Monday, September 10, 2012YouTube viewers by the thousands click on cell phone recordings of restaurant brawls and there’s been a new video added to the well-known video site – this time from Troy.
Troy University students Kelsey Wilkes and Luke Sharp were at the Waffle House near Sears early Sunday morning when a woman became irate over the length of time it took to receive her order.
“It was crazy,” Sharp recounted. “This girl got mad about her cheese omelet not being served in a timely fashion.”
“She first came in there and she had a bag of Krystal’s with her, which I thought was rude to begin with,” Wilkes said.
The friends said usual Waffle House customers expect a bit of a wait when they visit the restaurant late on Saturdays or early on Sundays since Troy is a college town. When the incident happened close to 4 a.m. Sunday, there were about six tables full of customers and people sitting at the bar area.
After about 30 minutes of wait time, Wilkes and Sharp said the woman began to get loud and yell at employees. She then threw a stapler at a cook, they said.
“She picked up a ketchup bottle and threw it at the woman calling the cops,” Sharp said. “She said police don’t scare me.”
“Then she threw a hot sauce bottle that shattered one of the lights above the bar,” Wilkes added. “It went all over another female customer.”
And the situation escalated even further when the woman and her friend went behind the bar into the employee area.
“She started beating up the cook that was trying to be nice and offer her a cheese omelet ahead of everybody else,” Sharp said. “I thought all Hell was about to break loose. I thought it was about to be a royal rumble in the Waffle House.”
Wilkes said she and Sharp began to record the altercation because they thought they’d never be in a situation such as that again. But by the time it was over, the pair felt relieved no one was badly injured.
“I was shaking. We thought about getting under the table. I was terrified. You never know nowadays if people have weapons,” Wilkes said.
“We didn’t quite know what to do to help,” Sharp added. “It looked as if there were a couple of men with them watching. It was dangerous.”
According to Troy Police Chief Jimmy Ennis, the angry omelet orderer was Erika Raynell Chambers, 21, of Luverne. Chambers was arrested for third-degree assault, which is a misdemeanor.
One Waffle House employee who hit her head during the scuffle was transported for medical care after the incident.
“That was one of the craziest things I’ve ever witnessed,” Wilkes said. “It blew my mind that it was over an omelet.”

I guess this gives a new meaning to an order for eggs over easy.

You guys might want to put up a disclaimer about the language in the video.
There is no sense in anyone acting like that.

G.H.E.T.T.O.—–Absolutely zero excuses for this! I bet their parents are overcome with pride. Take that back to Crenshaw County! Although, now that I think about it, her family will probably be on here soon defending her behavior about how it took so long to get her omlet at 4am & that was unacceptable! I bet she was a highest rank student at LHS. Sad, sad, sad. You should be ashamed to act like this after leaving da club.

So I still see you trying to be funny “TrojanParent” grow up already.

Here go an idea. Go down to Bobby’s Discount Grocery store in Luverne, take de WIC card, and buy you some hoopty cheese and eggs and make yo own omelettes…know what I’m sayin?

I don’t usually get hungry at 4:00 am because I am usually sleeping or hunting. I prefer to cook my own food so I know it’s fresh and clean. I have chickens, eggs, and cheese at my house. No sense in spending money when I have that stuff at home. Buy your cheese and bread and butter from a small grocery store; it is good. Support Bobby’s Discount Store; it’s all good. I agree with you Bill.

How can this be a misdemeanor? She should have been locked up and fed a nice breakfast of powdered eggs and stale bread! Maybe the Waffle House crew needs to have some “pepper spray” to go with their cheese omlets!!

Here is an idea, lets all go in together buy her a bottle, some diapers, and a pacifier. This way she can really be the age she is acting. She is supposed to a grown woman acting like a 3 year old throwing a tantrum. Group up. Put your big girl panties on and act like a young lady not a child. Do you really know how stupid you look. Think if you saw your mother doing this you would be embarrassed. Now think of how your child/children feel. Shame on you. If you can’t handle the liquor then dont go out and drink. STAY AT HOME!!!!!!!

Just my opinion no charge for breaking light disorderly public intox. We do not need to get to much of her entitlement or she will not have the money to go out this week to have a good time. While they had three or four police there who was looking after the rest of troy?????

Trojanparents,
I completely agree that the behavior of this person was unacceptable and there was no excuse for it. However, I do not appreciate you saying negative things about LHS. Just because this person was from Luverne, does not mean that negative comments have to be made about a school. There are plenty of “bad seeds” that have come from Pike County and Troy, however, it is not any of the schools’ faults that they have behaved badly. You should no more blame LHS or Crenshaw County for the poor behavior of a person from Luverne, than anyone should blame your poor judgement for making such statements, on CHHS or Pike County.

Holy Cow, Well whatever we do let’s not say it has anything to do with race because we all know that race has nothing to do with this and that any person can act this way. See if you just look at the Waffle House Fights posted on YouTube you will notice that most altercations are from our African American brothers or sisters but shhhhhhh don’t say it because it is not racial at all (I heard that youtube removes all the white folks acting crazy just to make black people look bad and that Fox News helps edit this ya know to support Da Man). . Maybe this is a case of a fine upstanding ‘sista’ Erica that just felt wronged by not getting her omelet fast enough and decided to change the world by acting this way to justify all the wronged omelet orders across the country. Just think how much faster we would have reached such racial equality if Rosa Parks had not just refused to give up her seat but started a fight with the bus driver and thrown things at the people around her.
On a side note I wonder if Ms. Cambers has a job? I wonder if she has a child? What would be a bigger surprise her having a job, her having a kid or if one of the other fine upstanding African Americans with this cutie would have stepped in and got this piece of trash through the door?

I’m with bill o really. Take yo WIC card and go back to Luverne. From the size of her arms it looks like she uses a lot of WIC and free cheese!

Maybe she just felt left out when they had the locker room brawl at Goshen without her?

This kind of foolishness is a good reason for me to stay the heck out of the Waffle House.

I agree with blood. Waffle house is the loser in this fight… People don’t want to go to a place known for fighting… That chick needs a serious attitude adjustment, and the po po should have given it to her.

Hey BLOOD,
Is it right to have to avoid places becasue of the things like this or would this be a call to support places because of things like this?
That particular Waffle House is one of the nicest, cleanest and most professional businesses in Troy. How can we justify seeing a business staff get abused by a hood rat by saying we should avoid the business. The white boy that made the national news belittling the Chick Fillet employee was condemned and lost his job. The employee at Chick Fillet got the sympathy of anyone that saw it yet in our very own town when we see this type of behavior and we say “stay away”? There was a fight in a McDonalds in Florida where a similar situation happened, do we avoid McDonalds? I wonder how long we can allow this type thing to happen and US as educated, productive people continue to pay for it. Pay you ask? Yes we pay. Real customers pay the additional cost to add security. Yep we real customers pay more for our food so the store can hire help. Now as we talk about real customers” I would like to define them. That would be someone who’s effort determines their livelihood. Healthy lazy “entitled” people on state and federal assistance do not care how much something cost because their money adjust with inflation of prices. I am sorry to say that my money only adjust with effort.
Maybe instead of “stay away” we need to say STAND UP and defend our right to peace and happiness.

And Blood,
You can avoid the Waffle House but what will it be next? What happens when it is your enviornment that is invaded by this mess? I can give you an exapmle of what avoidance does. Next time you are in Montgomery take a look at Montgomery Mall or even a large section of Montgoemry at that. Avoidance failed there. Eventually the trash will make its way to East Chase but worry not i am sure there will be a new complex built to help us avoid this. God forbid the decent people in our society taking a stand against the worthless.

This piece of ghetto trash certainly DESERVES to be charged with much more than what she was. That kind of behavior is absolutely uncalled for regardless of how long the wait is. Along with not teaching her how to act, her moma apparently didn’t teach her or her sista, how to dress, either. That’s just shameful and disgusting!

GHETTO is the only word that springs to mind. In everyway; actions, attitude, language and the way they were attired. Both of those young women needed to charged, one was more aggressive, but there were two of them. I have to agree that a slap on the wrist misdemeanor is probably not going to change the aggressive nature of these women. Avoiding the Waffle House is not the answer either. Hopefully the Court system will address the issue of comimg to Troy to act like a bully.

Countyroad11, I completely apologize. That actually wasn’t an intentional jab at LHS. There was a “family” on here from GHS not to long ago defending crazy behavior very similiar to this and she spoke with terrible grammar, but claimed to be “highest rank when she graduated from GHS”. That wasn’t meant as a jab to LHS. Probably wasn’t the best analogy.

So that’s why the floors are so greasy! It’s a security measure!
We are not that far from animals when we are fighting mad after waiting 30 minutes for an omelet.

I wonder also why some of the “men” in the place didn’t try to stop this crazy woman. However, when you look at her size and tight draws they were probably like me and would have been “scared”!

I don’t know any of those folks; therefore, I will keep my mouth shut. If we all tried a little harder to be good citizens and more like Jesus, this type of stuff would probably never happen. You all can do what you want, but I am not going to any restaurant, movie theater, or gas stations after midnight; I don’t want to meet a James Holmes or any other unbalanced person.

She did get charge with more. She was charge with assault in the 3rd degree. Troy messenger didn’t report all the charges.
