Palmer Williams Jr., who plays “Floyd the Barber” on Tyler Perry’s popular sit-com, “House of Payne,” was at Troy University Wednesday afternoon to promote the “Laugh Out Loud Comedy Show” at the Claudia Crosby Theater on Sept. 21.

Williams will host the LOL Comedy Show that will feature Daruleo Black, Hollywood, De’Ant and special guest Brad James, of Perry’s For Better or Worse television show.

“Even though I’m from Camden, Ala., I had never been to Troy before,” Williams said. “Troy University is an amazing campus. I have really been impressed with what I’ve seen and I’m looking forward to being back for the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Show.”

Williams is a singer, actor, writer and producer. He appeared in six of the seven seasons of Perry’s “House of Payne.” As “Floyd the Barber,” he was able to let his silly side out.

“Being Floyd was a lot of fun,” he said.

“I had crazy ideas and got to do crazy things but I also doled out little nuggets of wisdom. I liked being Floyd.”

Williams recently appeared in Perry’s stage play, “The Haves and the Have Nots” at the Beacon Theater in New York.

“The stage production was a wonderful experience for me,” Williams said. “I put myself into the production and had a lot of fun.”

Williams has fun with whatever he is doing and he said the LOL Comedy Show at Troy University will be an opportunity to host a fun-filled show.

“I am very excited to have Palmer Williams Jr. to host the comedy show and to have a such a great lineup of actor/comedians,” said TaLesa J. Harris, show producer.

“I appreciate the support of the NAACP-Troy Chapter, the sponsor of this comedy show.”

Harris, of Troy, said Daruleo Black and De’ Ant are popular comedian/actors, back in the Atlanta area and De’Ant in and around Montgomery.

“Hollywood is a great actor that appeared in ‘The Blind Side’ with Sandra Bullock,” Harris said. “Brad James is a star of ‘For Better or Worse’ so we’ll have a great comedy show at the Claudia Crosby Theater on Sept. 21.”

Harris said the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Show will also feature live band performances and other guest performers.

“This is a show that everybody will enjoy,” she said. “It’s a family show and it’s suitable for children.”

Tickets for the LOL Comedy Show are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Show time is 6:30 p.m.
