Charles Henderson picked up its first win of the season with a 25-13, 25-15, 25-22 decision over Straughn on Tuesday.

“I thought we played a lot better than we did in our last two matches,” head coach jennifer Sikes said. “We had some good kills and some good digs. We looked like a completely different team. Night and day.”

For Charles Henderson (1-2), Alli Ellis had four aces and two kills. Becca Hartely finished with four aces and four kills while Victoria Outlaw had one ace, six kills and one block.

“We opened (the season) with a tough area match against Ashford and just didn’t play well,” Sikes said. “I’m happy with the way we responded today.”

Charles Henderson lost to Goshen on Monday.

The Trojans will return to the court on Aug. 30 when they take on Carroll in Troy.

The team played with a special pink volleyball to honor Goshen High School coach Dee Hughes who is battling brest cancer.
