Tisdale, Lewis blast Troy past Dothan

Published 10:20pm Saturday, July 7, 2012

Charlie Tisdale hit a pair of 2-run home runs and Nick Lewis went deep for the third time is as many games as Troy scored early and often in a 16-1 victory over Dothan in the Junior Dixie Boys Distrcit 6 tournament on Saturday.

Troy scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back in a rebound win following Friday night’s disappointing 5-2 loss to Enterprise.

Jackson Murphy singled home Bryson Gandy to open the scoring. Tisdale then followed by blasting his first home run to give Troy a 3-0 lead. A couple of Dothan errors would lead to two more runs and Troy led 5-0.

In the second, Murphy walked with one out and Tisdale struck again on an 0-1 pitch. Grant Hughes would drive in Tyler Hussey later in the inning to extend Troy’s lead to 8-0.

Tisdale was 3-for-4 on the day with four RBIs.

Troy would score seven runs with two outs in the fourth. Trae Sullivant and Kobe Griffin each rached on errors before Lewis launched a 3-run homer to put Troy ahead 13-1.

Lewis finished 2-for-3 with a trio of runs batted in. Murphy ended the contest 1-for-2 witha pair of walks and three runs scored.

Troy will face Enterprise in a grudge match Monday at 6 p.m. Troy must win twice to win the tournament.
