No injuries in Friday burglaryPublished 6:40am Saturday, June 30, 2012
No one was injured in a burglary on South Brundidge Street early Friday morning, according to police.
Officers were called about 12:40 a.m. to the 800 block of South Brundidge Street in response to subjects entering the home of an international student at Troy University and taking items.
“The victim was able to give a description of the vehicle leaving the scene and an officer who was close by quickly spotted it,” said Troy Police Chief Jimmy Ennis.
The officer stopped the vehicle on Martin Luther King Drive.
“At that time, three suspects ran from the vehicle. The driver was apprehended,” Ennis said. “We did recover some property.”
Akeem Jamars Walker, 19, was charged with burglary second degree and receiving stolen property and police are continuing to investigate the crime.
“We encourage everyone to be alert and aware of their surroundings and call us if they see something suspicious, day or night,” Ennis said.
No further information was available about the incident on Friday due to the investigation.
Walker is being held on a $20,000 bond for the burglary charge and $5,000 for receiving stolen property.
