Seven classifications will begin their postseason on Friday. Dan Smith, Troy Parks and Recreation Director, says this time of year is always a blast.

“The intensity is certainly turned up a notch with the number of tournament team participating in Troy and other cities,” Smith said.

The foundation of recreation tournament ball is city versus city and community versus community. We have created a lot of good rivalries with other cities and its all in good-spirited fun. That’s what it was intended for.”

Troy will host the first of seven tournaments this summer. The six-team “O”Zone District Tournament begins with Geneva versus Enterprise Nationals at 4 P.m. on Friday. Troy will follow Slocomb and Enterprise Americans in the nigh cap as they take on Eufaula at 8 p.m.

“I would encourage everyone traveling to watch our teams to be safe and show great sportsmanship,” Smith said.

“We want to support other team’s players as much as we can. When a coach or a player encourages someone from another team, that is the ultimate sign of sportsmanship.”
