A Brundidge man died on Saturday after he was shot by Waveland, Miss., police, who said he pulled a weapon.
Clayton Lane Marsh, 31, was shot after a chase behind an auto shop in Waveland.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Master Sgt. Johnny Poulos said Waveland police responded to a suspicious vehicle behind the Travel Express Inn on U.S. 90 about 3 a.m. Saturday. Police said when the man fled, the officer chased him on foot. Poulos said the man displayed a weapon during the pursuit and the officer shot him.
Hancock County Coroner Jim Faulk identified the man on Sunday. Faulk said Marsh died on his birthday.
The Southeast Sun in Enterprise reported that a warrant had been issued for Marsh in Coffee County on March 13. The order said Marsh let the battery on his ankle monitor go dead. The monitor was a condition of his bond for two arrests, one of which was for the manufacture of methamphetamine.
