Ruth Griffin

Ruth Bernice Steele Griffin, age 88, a resident of Troy, died Saturday, February 25, 2012.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 2:30 pm from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Rev. Michael Alsup officiating.  Interment will follow in Green Hills Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012 from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

Mrs. Griffin was a registered nurse and night supervisor for many years at Edge Memorial Hospital. She was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church.  Mrs. Griffin traveled the world with her late husband, Osbourne Alexander “Lex” Griffin, as he served his country.  She had a passion for fishing in the gulf in Destin, FL.  She was loved by all who knew her and enjoyed helping others.

Mrs.  Griffin is survived by her daughters, Nancy G. O’Neal (George D., Jr.) and Louise G. Ingram; grandchildren, Michael D. O’Neal (Summer S.), Nanette O. Bickel (Christopher Scott), Brian K. Ingram (Jeanette B.) and Keith A. Ingram (Melissa H.); great-grandchildren, Bryce, Elise and Benjamin Bickel, Griffin, Anderson and Collier O’Neal, Kylie and Hailey Ingram, Ryland, Callie and Chase Ingram; sister-n-law, Ruth Steele; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Osbourne Alexander “Lex” Griffin; her parents, James W. Steele and Willie Steele Jones; brothers, Clyde and Herman Steele; and sister, Doris S. Somers.  In-lieu-of-flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Troy or your favorite charity.
