GUNTERSVILLE – Lawson Stewart once again led Troy’s Dixie Pre-Majors at the plate going 2-for-4 in his team’s 6-0 win over Selma Saturday.
Stewart, who picked up the win on the mound Friday, is 6-for-10 in Troy’s two victories. Houston Mabray pitched five innings of two-hit baseball while striking out four.
Stewart and John Johnson scored on an error by Selma’s shortstop to give Troy an early 2-0 lead. In the third, Rhett Tucker ripped a 2-RBI single. The next batter, Brantley Lecroy also singled driving home Tucker and extending Troy’s lead to 5-0.
Blake Craft would launch a solo homerun in the fifth to cap the scoring.
Lecroy pitched the final two innings for Troy surrendering only two hits.
Troy will receive a bye though Saturday’s afternoon session and will resume play Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. against one of three opponents, Bellingrath, Westside, or Smith Station. Westside beat Troy 10-0 in the opening round. Troy, however, has since allowed only two runs outscoring their opponents 21-2.
