The multi-handicapped classroom facility currently under construction on the campus of Charles Henderson High School is on target to be open by the end of October, this according to Linda Felton-Smith, Troy City Schools Superintendent.

“As of right now, we’re on schedule with the project, and we hope to have it completed in time for us to move in after fall break,” Felton-Smith said.

The facility is being built at a cost of roughly $447,000, with those funds coming from the TCS reserve fund.

The building is set to include not only classroom areas, but also life skills instructional areas, such as a kitchen, complete with a washer and dryer, sink and stove. The facility will also have the equipment necessary to teach basic computer skills.

“This really will be an upgrade from where we are presently,” Felton-Smith said.
