Graveside services for Nadine Brundidge Debose, 51, of Troy, Ala., who died on Jan. 17, 2002, in Edge Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Holly Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Springhill.

Burial will be at the Holly Springs Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home with the Rev. J.C. Folks officiating.

Miss Debose was born on Feb. 25, 1950, and was the daughter of Willie C. Brundidge and Corene Hollis Brundidge. She was educated in the Pike County School System and was a certified nursing assistant.

Dillard Funeral Home

Estelle Prestwood Sanders, 102, died on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, in her home in Jack.

Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a one hour lie-in-state prior to the service.

Graveside services will be held at the Roeton Baptist Church in Brundidge on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Gary Sanders and Rev. Joe Underwood officiating. Burial will follow at the Roeton Baptist Church Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Labon Gregory, Roeton, Virginia Brown, Warrior, Martha and Billy Wilson, Destin, Fla., Louise and Randolph Johnston, Brundidge; sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Reba Sanders, Troy; Ray and Theda Sanders, Roeton; daughters-in-law, Virginia Sanders, Roeton, Barbara McVey, Troy; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Junius Sanders, daughter Dorthy Grace Sanders, sons, Marion and Daniel Sanders.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons.

 

Carl Milton Ware, 87, of Troy, died on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, in Phenix City.

Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy on Friday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. W.O. Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at the Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Ware was born on May 9, 1914 in McMinn County, Tenn., the son of Mae Williams and Cal Roy Ware. He had been a resident of Troy since 1956. He was an employee of Ira A. Watson Company in Knoxville, Tenn., for 25 years, serving as manager and company representative in the Southern States. Prior to his retirement, he was co-owner of L.P. Gas Service Co. in Troy and was a member of the Lion’s Club since 1938, a Shriner, as well as a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army. He was an ordained deacon serving at the First Baptist Church of Hazard, Ken., Thomaston, Ga., and Cumming, Ga. He was also first president for Goshen Farmer’s CO-OP and a member of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association.

Survivors include: wife, Mary Ann Herald Ware of Troy; two daughters, Jo Ann Ware (Ronald) Beck, Carl Lynn Ware Whitfield, all of Phenix City; son, Carl Vance (Kelly) Ware of Troy; grandchildren, Elizabeth Beck (Rich) Adams, Ronald Vance (Kim) Beck, II, all of Phenix City, Yancey Eugene (Angie) Shaver, III, of Kingsland, Ga., and Michael (Penny) Shaver of Brundidge; 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rick Adams, Ed Baker, Buddy Fowee, Jim Liner, Michael Shaver, Beck Vance, Yancy Eugene Shaver and Carl Ware. Honorary Pallbearers are: Ralph Fowee, Randy Liner, James Smith, Mike Thomas, Jerry Vinson and Robert White.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Southeast Alabama Chapter, P.O. Box 609, Dothan; or to your favorite charity.

Rebecca "Mee Maw" Townsend Railey, 64, of Troy, died on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at the Hephizibah Baptist Church on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. with Dr. Don Hatcher officiating.

Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include: daughter, Dawn Railey, Troy; son and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Linda Railey, Chuck and Rachael Railey, all of Troy; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie Railey and Tim Pearce, Sylacauga; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Billy Gibson, Troy; brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Carolyn Townsend, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Rosa Lee Boswell, Troy, and Lorene Railey, Columbus, Ga.; brothers-in-law, Robert Newman and Hugh Finlay, both of Troy; six grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph "Bulldog" Railey and her parents, Samuel and Mattie Townsend.

Pallbearers will be Bill Finlay, Hugh Dent Finlay, Jim Finlay, John Finlay, Marty Townsend, Johnny Gibson, Jimmy Railey, David Newman and Clay Townsend.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mossy Grove Cemetery Trust or your favorite charity.

Skeen Funeral Home

Frances Marie Jones, 86, of Troy, died on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002 at Pike Manor Health Care Center in Troy.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 11 a.m. at the Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with the Rev. Bob Crumley officiating. Burial followed in Paran Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Survivors include: daughter, Betty (Gene) Casey, Mathews; two sons, Robert (Mary Ann) Jones, Ramond (Alice) Jones, all of Troy; grandchildren, Debra Casey, Montgomery, Cindy (Eddie) Dent, Tressville, Teresa (Warren) Shirley, Letohatchee, Alan Jones, Huntsville, Michael (Charles) Granger, Prattville, Leigh (Trey) Ingram, Troy; great-grandchildren, Amber and Trey Shirley, Letohatchee, Joey and Casey Dent, Tressville, Hannah Sylvest, Prattville, Carter and Dalton Grainger, Prattville, Blake and Chase Ingram, Troy; one sister-in-law, Lucy Knight, Troy.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Eulara Johnson, and a brother, Charlie Knight.

Pallbearers were Alan Jones, George Johnson, Warren Shirley Jr., Eddie Dent, Trey Ingram and Charles Grainger. Honorary pallbearers were the McDonald’s Coffee Club.
